Most aid is used up the moment it arrives: a meal is eaten, a pack runs out. A tree is different. Planted in the right place and looked after by the people who live there, it holds soil in place, draws rain, gives shade and fruit, and does all of this for a generation without asking for anything more.
Trees for Change is iHelp Global's environmental programme in [COUNTRY – CONFIRM]. It plants trees, sets up local tree nurseries that communities run themselves, and teaches families how to make the most of the land around them. It is Sadaqah Jariyah in the plainest sense: a gift that keeps benefiting people long after it is given.
More Than A TREE
Trees for Change Delivers
- Soil that stays put – roots bind the ground against flooding and erosion in the rainy season.
- Cooler, wetter ground – shade slows evaporation, so water stays in the soil for longer.
- Food and a small income – fruit trees feed a family and give them something to sell.
- A nursery the village owns – seedlings raised locally, so planting carries on after the project ends.
A Gift That Grows, Every Year
A tree planted this year is bigger next year, and bigger the year after that. It will shade children who haven't been born yet and hold soil for harvests you'll never see.
"There is no Muslim who plants a tree or sows a field and a human, bird or animal eats from it, except that it is counted as charity for him."

Planting was named as charity fourteen centuries ago. Every harvest, and every bird fed from it, is written for the one who planted.
A Tree You Can Plant in Someone's Name
Plant a tree as Sadaqah for a parent, a spouse, a child, or someone who has passed away.
For a loved one no longer with us, few gifts are more fitting: something alive and rooted, giving shade and food for years, with the reward continuing to reach them.

The Right Trees, in the Right Place
Trees are planted where the land needs them most and where a community has agreed to look after them: around homes and fields, along eroding slopes, and near water sources.
Species are chosen for the local climate and for what they give back – shade, fruit, fodder – rather than for how they look.

iHelp Global is a UK-registered charity (Charity No. 1152490), founded in 2009, with teams working directly in the communities it serves on water, food, orphan care and livelihoods.
A tree nursery is only worth building if someone stays to see it through the first dry seasons. Because iHelp Global works in these communities year after year, it does.
One Tree, One Generation
A tree planted today is still giving shade, fruit and soil twenty years from now. The nursery that grew it is still producing seedlings, and the family trained to tend it has passed the skill on.
