Muharram AppealMeals today. Water for years
Muharram opens the Islamic year and is one of the four months Allah has made sacred. Many Muslims use it to reset their intentions and to give a little more of their worship, their time and their wealth. The Muharram Appeal is a simple way to turn that intention into something a family can actually eat or drink.
Choose a hot cooked meal for ten people in Tanzania or Gaza, a food pack that lasts a household around a month, or a share in a water well. Each option is delivered through iHelp Global's local teams, and each is voluntary Sadaqah, given when and how you wish.
Empowering People In Need,

Beyond Cooked Meals
Fed tonight. Fed this month
A hot meal solves tonight, giving ten people a ready-to-eat meal in Tanzania and Gaza without needing fuel, pots or a kitchen.
A food pack supports a family of up to five for around a month, providing staples for two meals a day. One meets the need today; the other helps keep a family fed for longer.
“He is not a true believer who eats his fill while his neighbour beside him goes hungry.”
— The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ (recorded in al-Adab al-Mufrad)
Every plate you provide is a share in that reward, and a comfort to someone who had all but given up on a warm meal.
Clean Water That Keeps Working Long After Muharram
In rural Tanzania and Pakistan, safe water can mean a long daily walk. A hand pump or well brings clean water closer and benefits a whole village for years.
That is why water is a powerful form of Sadaqah Jariyah-charity whose reward continues.
Why Give in Muharram
Allah says in the Qur'an that the number of months with Him is twelve, and that four of them are sacred (Surah At-Tawbah, 9:36). Muharram is one of those four. Classical commentators on this verse, including Ibn Kathir, recorded that wrongdoing is graver in the sacred months and good deeds carry greater virtue, which is why believers are encouraged to make a particular effort in worship, fasting and generosity during them. The tenth day, Ashura, is marked by many Muslims with a voluntary fast, following the practice of the Prophet ﷺ.
Giving in Muharram is voluntary too. It is Sadaqah, not an obligation, and it does not replace Zakat, which has its own conditions and its own timing. If you are looking to pay Zakat rather than give Sadaqah, iHelp Global has a dedicated Zakat page with eligible projects. What the Muharram Appeal offers is a well-timed opportunity: a sacred month, a clear intention, and a specific person at the other end of it.
