Welcome to iHelp Global

Ramadan Food PackSuhoor and iftar, for the whole month.

Fasting from dawn to sunset is demanding enough when there is a meal waiting at each end of the day. In the communities iHelp Global serves in Tanzania and Pakistan, many families begin Ramadan without knowing what, or whether, they will eat at iftar. A Ramadan Food Pack settles that question for a month.

Each pack is put together locally and delivered before or in the first days of Ramadan. It holds the staples a household needs to prepare two meals a day for around thirty days – flour, rice, cooking oil, beans, lentils, sugar, tea and salt – so a family can fast, and break their fast, with the same steadiness as anyone else.

What's In the Pack

No waste, no delay.

iHelp Global's teams buy the contents of each pack from markets and suppliers near the communities they serve. That keeps money in the local economy, avoids shipping costs and delays, and means the food matches what families actually cook with. A pack for five people is sized to cover suhoor and iftar for a household of up to five for around a month.

Distribution happens at the start of Ramadan, not partway through. Households are identified in advance by the local team, with widows, orphaned children and families with no steady income given priority, so that the pack is in the kitchen before the first fast begins.

“Whoever provides food for a fasting person to break his fast will have a reward like his, without anything being diminished from the reward of the fasting person”

— The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ (Jami' at-Tirmidhi)

A food pack donation is voluntary Sadaqah, and it is also one of the most common uses of Zakat during Ramadan, since the recipients are families living in poverty. If you intend a donation as Zakat, choose a pack marked as Zakat-eligible or use iHelp Global's Zakat page, so that your obligation is correctly discharged. Either way, the food is the same and it reaches the same households.

The Same Fast. A Very Different Iftar Table.

Feeding Those Who Fast

It is one of the most encouraging narrations of Ramadan, because it means the reward of a fast kept by a family in a Tanzanian village can, by Allah's mercy, be shared with the person in Britain whose Sadaqah put the food on their table.

Why Give Your Ramadan food pack through iHelp Global?

iHelp Global, a UK registered charity founded in 2009, has distributed food packs in Tanzania and Pakistan since 2014. The Ramadan programme is an extension of that year-round work, run by the same local teams who deliver orphan care, cooked food, clean water and livelihood support in those communities. They do not arrive in Ramadan and leave afterwards.

A month of iftars, sorted.

Choose a pack for three or five people, give it as Sadaqah or Zakat, and iHelp Global's local teams will have it with a family in Tanzania or Pakistan for the start of Ramadan. Early donations give them the most time to buy and deliver.
